The risk

With the outbreak of the sars cov2 virus, anesthesiology is facing new challenges with regard to the safe intubation of patients. Therefore, the intubation procedure is generally considered to be a procedure with a very high risk of infection. This is because the person intubating is close to the patient. And therefore, the risk of infection with salvia, blood, drops or aerosol is considered important.

The advice

The Dutch Society for Anaesthesia has drawn up a guideline with advice. It is important to increase the distance to the mouth opening. Intubation with a video laryngoscope is recommended for this. Squared Medical can offer a very effective protection: CovShield.

The solution

CovShield biedt een zeer solide innovatieve bescherming op het moment van intubatie. Op het disposable blade van de videolaryngoscoop is een helder scherm van stevig glad plastic bevestigd. Dit dekt de patiënt volledig af en er is geen directe uitwisseling van speeksel, bloed of aërosols mogelijk.

The application

De stembanden worden in een vue gebracht. Hierdoor kan de ET-buis door een dunne plastic folie in de intubatieopening worden geschoven. Om risico's te vermijden, raden wij aan om voor de intubatie het ventilatiefilter aan de buis te bevestigen. De buis kan dan volledig op zicht gepositioneerd worden via de videolaryngoscoop. Als er slijm of bloed moet worden opgezogen, is er een afzuig opening beschikbaar, die ook door een dunne kunststoffolie wordt afgesloten.
